Level 2 NVQ in Cladding Occupations (Construction)

Qualification summary

To enable operatives employed in the Cladding occupations sector to have their skills recognised by clients, the major contractors group and employers through a National Vocational Qualification at level 2. This qualification is structured to cater for 4 different routes within the Cladding Occupations sector. These are: Roof Sheeting and Cladding; Erection of Precast Concrete Cladding; Specialised Cladding and Rainscreen Systems and Stone Cladding. A Mandatory Common Core applies to all 4 routes. Also listed are 'Additional Units' that are specific to the individual routes, whilst not compulsory, might be also of special interest to candidates within the specific industry sector.

This Level 2 is structured to allow one or other of the routes to be attained.

This qualification features multiple options routes. The bulk of candidates are likely to select just one route, as this reflects their typical day to day skills. However, if their work skills broaden out over time, they may wish to be able to achieve other associated routes, for example, Roof Sheeting and Cladding candidates may also install Specialised Cladding and Rainscreen Systems or vice versa or any candidate could undertake any of the 'Additional Units' if their work allows.

Those candidates undertaking Roof Sheeting and Cladding and Stone Cladding have the option of progressing to Level 3 on completion of their Level 2. Currently Erection of Precast Concrete and Specialised Cladding and Rainscreen Systems do not offer a Level 3. However, if a candidate wanted to progress they could opt to undertake 'Construction Site Supervision' at NVQ Level 3, if their work allowed.
